Pre-Health Advising and Support at UC San Diego provides information, advice, and resources for students who aspire to health professional programs and wish to enhance their academic and extracurricular preparation. Professional advising staff in the Career Center, College advising, and department advising are available to guide students as they plan their pre-professional coursework, extracurricular involvement, service and volunteer experiences, and research in preparation for applying to programs.
Academic Advisors
Undergraduate academic advisors guide students in their degree requirements to earn a bachelor’s degree from UC San Diego. There are College advisors and department/major advisors. Learn more about undergraduate advising at UCSD. Contact academic advisors through the Virtual Advising Center.
Academic Advisors can:
- Incorporate admission requirements for the professional path (from a provided list) in long-term academic planning
- Apply AP/IB/transfer coursework to degree requirements
- Assist students with enrolling in courses, finding research opportunities, and connecting with faculty advisors
- Holistically support students with challenges that are impacting academics
Career Center
The Career Center provides career readiness coaching and exploration for students. Contact the Career Center and review their advising services.
The Career Center offers:
- Advising on major and career exploration, including use of career assessments and exploration tools
- Advising on graduate school exploration and preparation
- Special career programming throughout the academic year (e.g., personal statement workshops, interview prep, etc.)

Professional Program Admissions Offices
- Maintain all requirements for applications to their program and advise on admissibility. Students should contact them with questions such as:
- Do you accept AP credit for your prerequisites?
- Do you accept international students?
- What should I do if I haven’t earned my degree by the time I start the program?
